Do Mode
How Do mode turns your input into actions and keeps tense consistent in Questsmith.
Do Mode
This icon represents Do actions in the game screen.
In Do mode, anything you type is recognized by the AI as an action performed by your character, and it reacts by generating the outcome of that action within the context of the story.
How It Works
Using Do usually adds You to the beginning of your input and converts first-person words such as I, me, my, and mine into second-person outside of quotes.
If you start your Do action with dialogue, My, or write You yourself, the automatic You will not be added.
Example: if you write I went to the throne room, the input becomes You went to the throne room. This keeps the tense consistent for the AI.
Third-Person Plot Component
If the Third-Person plot component is enabled, Questsmith uses your character name instead of You.
You can change your character name from the Flame menu in the upper-left corner of the adventure screen.
Examples
- Player input: Enter the throne room to tell the king of my discovery.
- Input sent to the AI: > You enter the throne room to tell the king of your discovery.
- Player input: My heart hurts. "I can't believe this."
- Input sent to the AI: > Your heart hurts. "I can't believe this."
- Player input: "She will not get away with this!" I raise my sword.
- Input sent to the AI: > "She will not get away with this!" You raise your sword.
Tip
If you only use Do and Say modes during gameplay, the AI can become repetitive and keep starting lines with You. Varying how you start your inputs helps the AI generate a wider range of sentence structures throughout the adventure.
