Does my Companion react to my decisions during RPG gameplay?

Yes. Your Companion is an active part of your RPG Adventure and their health represents their trust in you. Their health/trust can increase or decrease based on the decisions and strategies you make throughout the story.

During combat, making a poor or incorrect fighting decision can cause your Companion's health/trust to drop. On the other hand, fighting bravely, making effective decisions, or using a clever strategy that benefits you and your Companion can increase their trust.

If your Companion has a low trust level and you continue making poor decisions, they may lose confidence in you and run away, leaving you to handle the situation on your own.

Your decisions therefore have a direct impact on your Companion and their willingness to continue standing beside you throughout your RPG Adventure.
